What to Pack for a Day on the Boat: Organizing Your Bogg Boat Bag
Have you ever found yourself endlessly watching ASMR videos, mesmerized by their calming sounds and simple visuals? I get it, I really do. There’s something about those quiet, soothing clips that can be oddly captivating. I recently stumbled upon an ASMR video of someone organizing their Bogg Bag, and I couldn’t help but think, “Wow, how much did you spend on all those little totes?”
You may be thinking, what do I use Bogg bags for? I mean, the whole point of a Bogg Bag is that it’s durable, easy to clean, and perfect for messy, wet, or sandy situations. Adding all those expensive cloth totes kind of defeats the purpose, right?
So, let’s talk about how I pack my Bogg Boat Bag for a day on the water without breaking the bank. It is a must-have for families especially ones that go to the beach/lake a lot. Here’s what I keep in mine, along with some practical tips on how to keep it organized without spending a fortune on tiny totes.
Boat Bag Essentials For Maximum Comfort
Sun Protection: First things first, sun protection is non-negotiable when you’re out on the boat (especially in Upstate South Carolina). I keep a large spray bottle of sunscreen, an SPF lip balm, and a smaller SPF stick for easy application for your face. You need the basics to ensure you don’t come back from your day on the water looking like a lobster.
Hair Care Essentials: Boat hair is a real thing, and I’m not a fan. To avoid that tangled mess, I always have a hairbrush and a few hair ties in a small pouch. It’s simple, and it keeps things neat and tidy. I also am known to have a waterproof bow for my daughter.
Towels: Don’t forget a towel, but not just any towel! You want one that actually absorbs water and is big enough for your body. Regardless if you want to lay the towel out on the boat seats, or use it to dry off after you take a dip, it is critical that it covers your body. Nothing is worse than a tiny towel, or one that doesn’t absorb the water. Don’t go cheap on your boat towel!
Boat Snacks and Drinks
Snacks are a must for any day on the boat. I use Bento Boxes to pack our snacks because they’re easy to pack, allow for a variety of fun snacks, and no one has to share. Plus, when snacks are in a Tupperware container you don’t have to worry about plastic flying around.
No one wants a soggy sandwich because it got mixed up with the grapes. The Bento Boxes are a game-changer and fit perfectly in the Bogg Bag. We each have our own colored Bento Box and can bring the snacks we love.
But, here is my favorite tip (that makes me the cool parent – and who doesn’t want that label?!): I pack a large thermos filled with ice and popsicles—it’s my favorite mom trick for keeping everyone cool and happy in the hot sun.
We are a big water bottle family, especially with this hot Upstate South Carolina sun. Some folks opt for those cute cup holders that attach to the Bogg Bag, but I just toss the bottles in. The bag is sturdy enough to handle it, and it’s one less thing to worry about (or purchase).
Phone Holder and Organization for the Bogg Boat Bag
Losing your phone on the boat? Hard pass – I need that phone camera! That’s why I have a phone holder that connects to the Bogg Bag. It’s super handy and keeps my phone from disappearing in the bottom of my bag or a random cup holder on the boat.
To keep other items from getting lost at the bottom of the bag, I organize my essentials in plastic tote bags that are easy to clean. They keep everything organized, and I don’t have to worry about ruining them if they get wet or sandy. Bonus tip, clear ones make it easy to see what is inside.
Customizing My Boat Bag
Having a Boat Bag that represents me and my likes is important. This is why I add a personalized touch to my Bogg Bag with a jibbit—one of those little charms that clip onto the bag. It makes it easy to spot my bag amongst a sea of similar ones, and it adds a bit of fun personality.
And that’s it! My Bogg Boat Bag essentials for a day on the boat without going overboard on expensive organization solutions. It’s all about practicality and keeping things easy to clean. So, whether you’re hitting the beach, the lake, or your kid’s swim meet, this setup has you covered.
What about you? What do you pack in your Bogg Boat Bag? And if you know of any unique items or tips for a day on the boat, I’d love to hear them! Share your suggestions in the comments, and let’s keep the conversation going.
