Upstate South Carolina Fall Visits to Local Farms

There’s something special about visiting a farm in the fall. The crisp air, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot, and the promise of fresh produce and seasonal activities make it a must-do.

Chattooga Belle Farm

Chattooga Belle Farm is an Upstate South Carolina gem! I love this spot for lunch and just taking in some of the most gorgeous views of the Blueridge Mountains. Bonus tip is to tack on a hike at the front end of your visit. (Here is an entire post about the perfect family day exploring this region of South Carolina)

In addition to enjoying the cafe for lunch, this farm also offers apple picking, a stocked country store, and even a distillery.

Chattooga Belle Farm is known for throwing some pretty amazing events and fun seasonal activities. Keep an eye out for all they have to offer because it truly is a magical place to visit, especially in the fall time.

Pumpkin Season at Dever Downs

One of the best events in the fall is the Denver Down Fall Festival which has so many activities for everyone to enjoy! Some of my favorite activities include hayrides, corn mazes, and taking a stroll through the pumpkin patches. Some local vendors come and bring handcrafted goodies and treats like candy apples (so yummy).

In addition to the festival, the areas around Denver Down screams fall with the trees turning colors and the crisp air. There are many walking trails open for the public where you can enjoy the scenery. Whether you’re wandering through cute shops, tasting seasonal snacks, or just there for the ride, Denver Down is where it’s at for a fall experience that’s all about Southern charm.

Jeter Mountain
Ok, I realize Jeter Mountain is not in South Carolina… BUT y’all it’s not a far drive and it’s literally the Disney World of Apple orchards. Apple Picking at Jeter Mountain is a must-do fall activity!

Start your adventure by picking apples from the orchards—You will take a wagon ride to the orchards where there will be several varieties to choose from. The views on this wagon ride are unreal!

But there are a lot more activities than just picking apples, they have a massive indoor barn playground for kids. You can view them making the cider donuts and definitely don’t skip on sipping the cider. Plus check out the country store- it is super cute.

Now, because this place is so amazing (and basically the Disney World of farms) it does get crowded. Try to go on an off day. And bring a picnic lunch. While they do serve food, the lines get long.

Jeter Mountain Farm is a great spot to experience apple picking firsthand. The farm offers a wide variety of apples, and the experience is perfect for families, friends, or even a solo adventure.

Fall Hiking in Upstate South Carolina is the best

There is so much to do in Upstate South Carolina and hiking is one of my favorite activities! The cooler weather makes for comfortable hiking conditions, and the views are unbeatable!

Whether you’re looking to conquer a challenging hike or just go for a leisurely stroll, Upstate SC has it all. Trails like Table Rock and Jones Gap offer a range of difficulties and unreal views. The cooler temperatures make even the toughest climbs more enjoyable, and nothing beats the sense of accomplishment and the views from the top. One of our favorite fall hikes is Table Rock, it’s a more challenging hike but when you get up the mountain you can eat lunch and take in the amazing views.

Bonus tip- if you are new to hiking and want to explore, but would prefer to do it with a group- there is an amazing Ladies hiking group of women of all ages who are always going out to explore the state trails. I am sure there are other hiking groups that include men/families I would search Facebook. It’s a great way to meet people who enjoy similar hobbies.

Explore State Parks

The parks in Upstate South Carolina are beautiful and absolutely should be explored, especially in the fall! Upstate SC is home to some fantastic state parks, and fall is a great time to visit them. If you haven’t obtained your free park book yet, do so! This book outlines all the state parks- and shares the highlights of what there is to do. Head to a ranger station at any state park and they will give you one. One of my favorite things to do is collect stamps as I visit each park.

Fall Boating in Upstate SC

One of my favorite fall activities is getting out on the water. There is nothing like putting on a cozy lake sweatshirt and looking at the colorful trees from the water.

Speed Boats and Canoes

Whether you prefer the thrill of a speedboat or the calm of a canoe, the lakes in Upstate SC offer the best of both worlds. As the leaves start to turn, the sights from the water are simply beautiful. It’s still warm enough to enjoy a day out on the water, so don’t miss the chance to see the vibrant fall colors from a unique perspective.

Fall Foliage Views

As you glide across the water, you’ll be treated to a stunning display of fall foliage reflecting on the lake’s surface. It’s a serene and picturesque experience that truly captures the essence of fall in Upstate SC.
