Best Boat Day on Lake Keowee (without kids)
I am in the middle of a 10 day remodel challenge that has been all-consuming (more on that next week or hang out on social to see the reveal). But it’s not often Ryan and I have an opportunity to take the boat out without the kids. So, while we didn’t have much time, we made the most of it and had the perfect evening out exploring Lake Keowee. If you’re anything like me and are obsessed with homes, Zillow, and all things real estate, this will be the perfect evening for you too.
Exploring Lake Keowee: Waterfalls Accessible by Boat: “Party Cove”
We live at the southern end of Lake Keowee and spend a lot of time exploring, tubing, skiing, and playing on this part of the lake. It’s not often that we take the trek up to “Party Cove,” a stunning waterfall accessible by boat. While we had some spare time, I knew I wanted to take the trip (about 20 minutes by boat) to go see the falls and experience Party Cove.
If you haven’t had the opportunity, Party Cove is a hot spot for boats to anchor, turn up the tunes, and have a great time! Truthfully, I would hate to have a house right on Party Cove because the music can be loud and a bit much. But it’s definitely an experience to go see, and if it’s not too crowded, it can make for a fun day of splashing and climbing the falls.
We popped in just for a quick moment, to check out the scenery and say we “experienced” the party. On this particular evening, there were plenty of people swimming, climbing the waterfall and even a boat grilling.
Boating Lake Keowee: A Tour of Stunning Lake Homes
Taking a slow boat stroll is my favorite type of boat ride, and being able to take a stroll and explore lake homes is my FAVORITE. But doing this with kids can kind of put a damper on things (they just don’t appreciate the real estate viewing like I do). Being able to explore today without the kids was a treat.
My husband, Ryan, does a great job of letting me direct where to take us next. Y’all have to go see these homes—just the landscaping alone is stunning not to mention the homes.
Real Estate on Lake Keowee: Picture Perfect Zillow Dream
I am obsessed with lake homes—the architecture, the lawns, the docks, and the toys. I love to examine it all. I wish I could have a tour of the inside of these homes because they are stunning. While nearly all of Lake Keowee is surrounded by beautiful lake homes, the ones on the northern end are just at another level. These are newer homes in the Cliffs communities.
Now, I know what you are thinking: newer homes 🙄
These new homes are not cookie-cutter; they are masterpieces, from the stonework to the rooflines. One after another, they are a total WOW factor. They are full of charm, and being able to view them from the water is one of my favorite things (I need to get invited to go take a tour of them; I can only imagine what the kitchens and living rooms look like)
Dining at the Cabana Bar: A Perfect End to the Best Boat Day
We, on the other hand, wanted to check out the Cabana Bar, and it didn’t disappoint. First, let’s get the elephant out of the room: from the dock to the Cabana Bar isn’t a long walk, but it can be steep. If mobility or walking up hills isn’t your thing, check this place out by car. The Cabana Bar is a hoppin’ place. We were lucky to grab a table—truthfully, it probably only worked out because we pulled in just after 7. Anyhow, I was grateful it worked out. We shared an appetizer (nachos with chicken, and it was good). Ryan had a beer, and I had (multiple) Shirley Temples (my new favorite!). The service was great, and as long as you aren’t expecting fine dining, it’s a great outdoor pub scene.
